Official Website and Login

The official website for JEECUP counselling is jeecup.admissions.nic.in. The portal provides access to counselling details, rank cards, schedules, instructions and login options. Candidates are required to log in using their application number, password or registered details.

How to use the rank card?

The rank card is a core document for counseling because seat allotment depends on rank, category, eligibility and choice preferences. A notification has been issued stating that rank cards for all groups are available on the official website. It is essential that the rank card details match correctly at the time of logging in for counseling.

How to fill choices

During choice filling candidates must submit their preferences for institutes and programs in a specific order. According to official guidelines, the more choices a candidate fills the broader the range of seat options becomes, provided they meet the eligibility criteria. On the choice filling page, available choices are displayed in the left pane while submitted choices appear in the right pane.

Step-by-step process

  1. Log in to the counselling portal.
  2. After accessing your saved counselling details open View Available Choices.
  3. View the eligible institutes and programs.
  4. Add choices according to your preferences.
  5. Delete, move up, move down, rearrange or interchange choices as needed.
  6. Lock your choices after finalizing them.

Choice Locking, Freeze and Float

Choice saving and choice locking are not the same thing. According to official instructions, a saved choice can be modified later but once locked, it cannot be changed. If a candidate does not lock their choices on time, the last saved choices may get auto locked.

The Freeze option means the allotted seat has been accepted and the candidate does not wish to make any further changes.

The Float option means the candidate wants to proceed to the next round in search of a better option while retaining their current seat. This is often the most confusing step for many students, so it should be understood carefully.

Seat Allotment and Fee Payment

JEECUP counselling is conducted based on allotment rank and choices. After the seat allotment, the candidate is required to pay the prescribed fee and the counselling fee on time. According to the announced schedule, the seat acceptance and counselling fee is ₹3,000.

Practical point

If the deadline for fee payment or document verification is missed, the allotted seat could be lost. Therefore, the safest approach is to log in and check the next steps immediately after the allotment result is declared.

Document Verification Checklist

Document verification is a mandatory part of the counseling process. According to the guidelines, candidates should keep their rank card, admit card, Class 10 and 12 certificates, domicile certificate, category certificate, income certificate and passport-sized photos ready. The verification takes place at offline help centers or designated centers.

What To Do After Seat Allotment

Once you receive the allotment, prioritize three things. First, download the allotment result. Second, decide whether to freeze or float. Third, note the deadlines for fee payment and verification. If the seat isn’t your preferred choice, the float option can be useful but a seat is not guaranteed in the next round.
